Job description:

Key Responsibilities:

·         Plant Inspections: Conduct regular plant inspections and develop checklists to ensure compliance with safety standards.

·         Monitoring Implementation: Monitor the implementation of safety measures and participate in departmental and functional meetings to discuss safety issues.

·         Safety Reviews: Participate in sectional level safety review meetings and coordinate the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

·         Risk Control Measures: Emphasize the development of control measures using risk hierarchy and encourage the use of PPEs.

·         Incident Analysis: Review incident reports and analyze accidents and incidents to identify causes and implement control measures.

·         Training Programs: Conduct classroom and on-the-job training programs and arrange external training programs for staff.

·         Safety Statistics: Collect, analyse, and maintain data on accidents, incidents, and man-days lost to develop action plans for achieving zero accidents.

·         Awareness Campaigns: Organize safety awareness campaigns, celebrations of safety days, safety quizzes, and safety demonstrations.

·         Mock Drills: Coordinate and ensure the conduct of mock drills as per schedule for emergency preparedness.

·         Budget Planning: Plan and prepare the safety department budget and facilitate the safety CAPEX budget through line functions.

·         Safety Procedures: Study and review site safety procedures and ensure their implementation.

·         Hazard Identification: Identify hazards, recommend action plans, and ensure the development of countermeasures for hazards.

·         Safety Committees: Organize safety committee meetings, inspections, testing, and certification of equipment as per safety norms.

·         Emergency Preparedness: Update onsite emergency plans, organize third-party safety audits, and liaise with authorities for safety approvals and certifications.

·         Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits, review safety systems, and coordinate with various departments for safety compliance.

·         ISO Compliance: Develop and implement action plans for effective implementation of ISO 45001:2018 (OHSMS) standards.

Safety Meetings: Coordinate site Apex safety committee meetings, participate in safety subcommittee meetings, and work towards effective safety systems and audits.
