As with the commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are embedded in the DNA through the Mastercard Way. At the heart of its culture is the Mastercard Way (company’s Values) which defines how they operate. It is the essence of how they do what they do, one of the core pillars of the Mastercard Way is “Being Inclusive” which is the key mantra to make their Diversity agenda successful.
Mastercard regularly raises awareness of biases among people managers during key activities for their workforce throughout the year, for example prior to their yearly talent planning and performance discussions. Mastercard also sets the tone from the very top that diversity, equity,
and inclusion matter, with their recent news that environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals would be tied to executive compensation.
Mastercard aspires to achieve 50-50 gender representation across career levels by 2023 for which numerous practices and programs have been institutionalized notably --
1. Diversity Slate - to ensure there is no conscious or unconscious bias which creeps in the hiring process.
2. Relaunch Your Career; India Returnship Program – women who have been on a career break and look forward to enter into mainstream.
3. Dedicated Hiring Blitz for women candidates: every year there is a focused hiring drive attempted at attracting women talent.
An organization’s eco system plays a pivotal role in nurturing and grooming its people and so does Mastercard’s in various ways:
CareNine Program - aims at providing a common platform to women (including spouses of men colleagues) during phases of maternity - Expecting, On Maternity Leave and Returning from Maternity Leave.
Women in Tech Rock stars: Mastercard is committed to build a more gender diverse workforce – especially in the field of technology. A great way to drive this is to inspire and recognize employees who become beacons of motivation for others.
Mentoring Series: a program available to support women from junior to middle management by matching them to mentor volunteer by a framework of relevant career building topics to prompt specific mentoring dialogue around challenges that matter.
Launch Code: providing women with opportunities for entry into tech.
