The Women@ZS program continues to make efforts towards the gender representation goal of achieving 50% women and gender expansive ZSers. Currently, women represent a third of the ZS workforce with an increased representation of women in leadership positions at ZS from 7% in Dec’12 to 29.2% in 2022. To achieve this, ZS has implemented various initiatives, such as mentorship programs, flexible work arrangements, and diversity hiring.
Their retention pillar under H-E-R (Hiring, Engagement, Retention) aims to close the attrition gap between men and women at all levels. In 2019, they piloted an innovative approach to enable flexible work timing for employees. The flagship initiative Path2Principal, focuses on enabling women ZSers to build skills and exercise the mind-set to emerge as leaders. Its 3R approach emphasizes the importance of building resonance with leadership skills, mind-sets and beliefs, establishing a rhythm for practicing these skills, and exercising repetition to reinforce learnings.
At ZS, the emphasis on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DE&I) aligns with the company's core values: do the right thing, treat people right, and get it right. As ZS makes strides in increasing diversity, it is essential that all employees experience a profound sense of belonging, feel heard and respected, and are empowered to thrive.
Key priorities for enabling DEI include adopting a purpose-driven approach to measure the effectiveness of programs, increasing the pool of underrepresented talent, and creating a gender-inclusive workforce. ZS also focuses on providing educational opportunities and resources to build foundational allyship capabilities while continuously advancing its approach to allyship.
Encouraging employees to bring their whole selves to work, ZS operates on a ""principles over policies"" philosophy, ensuring that all associates are treated with care and that their unique circumstances are thoughtfully considered."
