Our Asia Service Centres’ journey started in 2006 and has since achieved scale, growth and operational maturity, while institutionalizing Sun Life's global standards by integrating closely with their corporate functions, allowing businesses to collaborate seamlessly. We are now a strong organization with close to 3000 employees (52% of Enterprise Services worldwide & ~6% of Sun Life's global workforce) operating across multiple shifts, providing 24 x 5 support to Sun Life globally. In fact, in some services and processes, such as Data Centre and Operations Centre, we have started to operate 24 x 7, and to provide real-time coverage to our business partners across five countries and Corporate.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AT ASC
The Asia Service Centres' core digital competencies are mobile, data analytics, visualization and RPA. In the past three years, we have launched over 20 digital assets, including the Sun Life Mobile Application.

It's about building new business models, enhancing operational and value chain efficiency. We aspire to create best in class client experiences, building a digital culture and mindset enabled by the latest technology platforms, data-driven insights, nimble execution and effective change frameworks.
We aim to foster a culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work and feel included. We have an environment where their talent is nurtured and empowered to contribute fully to Sun Life's purpose and goals. At ASC we put significant effort in embedding a culture of inclusion through role modelling, training of line Managers, and sensitization and awareness workshops for all our colleagues.
Gender Diversity is a primary area of focus. The ASC Leadership team is committed to building an inclusive culture for a diverse workforce to thrive as well as create a sustainable talent pipeline to have gender balanced leadership teams across all functions and locations. Focused Leadership Development Programs are offered to middle management women leaders to support capability building and in turn creating a more diverse talent pipeline for Sun Life.
In India, the demographic of the working section is diverse and we understand that their needs and perspectives vary. A multitude of initiatives like Sponsorship program, Reverse Mentoring, Flexible working option help us in building a culture that supports talent from different backgrounds and life stages.
WELLNESS: OUR PEOPLE AT THE CENTRE
Since the pandemic erupted, there has been a significant overlapping of work and personal lives. Heralded as amongst the country’s best workplaces for its organisational culture and gender diversity practices, ASC has taken several measures in employee engagement and wellness. All employees have been frequently given Wellness day offs along with Wellness allowance during the period of crisis. No Meeting Fridays(afternoons) have been announced to give employees the opportunity to complete their work without interruptions; encouraging employees to reduce the frequency, duration and participation in meetings. People have been advised to reach out to their managers to adopt flexible work arrangements and manage the workload. ASC also has an Employee Assistance Program which provides free & confidential mental health support as well as physical well-being services for employees to help deal with their concerns and alleviate stress.
PROJECT CARE
We have vaccinated several of our employees, their dependents and our support staff and we plan to conduct the Vaccination drive in multiple phases to help support doses for any further requirements.
The ‘Project Care’ team, as we call it, took several steps to logistically manage this huge exercise, adhering to the local government protocols, ensuring the safety of all and enabling a seamless experience for our employees and their dependents.
