Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) is one of the founding blocks of how UST as an organization translates its values of Humility, Humanity, and Integrity into practice. From the initial days of inception to now 21-years later, UST has been committed to building an inclusive and diverse community for all its associates. To this extent, UST has strived to provide safe and comfortable working conditions as well as equitable options and amenities.
At UST, we provide expectant mothers with free transport during their pregnancy period. A working expectant mother has the option of extending the maternity leave up to three months over and above the 6-month maternity leave. There are also flexible options available for working mothers. Resting rooms for expectant and nursing mothers are available across our centers.
On-prem day-care facility is provided at our campuses for childcare across centers in India. With a specific focus on promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, UST has partnered with "Tech She Can", whose goal is to help inspire children to consider a career in Information Technology.
UST’s D&I plan also has guidelines to hold leaders at all levels accountable for improving diversity in talent representation and to narrow the gender gap across the entire talent development value chain - impacting everything from hiring, promotion, recognition, to leadership development and retention through programs like mentoring program WIN IT for women, servant leadership sessions etc.
Quarterly analytics and reports are published for divisions that show trends and gaps considering attrition, hiring and promotion numbers as well. UST also leveraged a broader talent pool with ongoing partnerships for the inclusion of women talent job boards on an ongoing basis, rolled out a companywide program directed at attracting a diverse workforce which is championed by UST’s global sourcing head.
Network of Women USsociates (NOWU) is focused on driving women empowerment and equality, which plays a pivotal role in organizing various ongoing initiatives that showcase the diverse talent within UST and addresses issues and challenges around D&I through webinars and other interpersonal sessions. Regular webinars on women’s health with focus on COVID-19, and sessions focusing on the mental and physical wellbeing of associates are also conducted on a regular basis.
UST also conducts POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training on an annual basis and has several councils to deal with issues on diversity and gender justice such as NotHere, location-wise Internal Complaints Committees and Ethics point at UST Global. Annual safety surveys are also rolled out to gather employee views/critical feedback and associated action plan and/or policy changes are established annually since 2017.
With active involvement in supporting its LGBQAI+ community, UST’s D&I initiatives have focused on creating an inclusive and respectful environment, with internal communities like the ‘Curved Colors’, a group for the LGBTQAI+ community.
UST also gives opportunities to the differently-abled associates through the ‘Impact India’ program. ‘Step IT Up’, is another UST program that provides a highly e?ective formula to train and employ women and veterans in the field of technology.
