Inclusion begins where the recruitment starts, with diverse hiring panels trained on mitigating unconscious bias. Ignite, industry-leading and award-winning leadership program, helps high-performing women achieve their true potential. Over 40% of Ignite graduates have been promoted; another one-third have moved into different roles/teams. The Learning Assistance Program reimburses all team-members up to INR 8 lakh for a relevant course/certification.
In 2023, women accounted for ~50% of LAP users, up from 30% in 2019. This is complemented by Target’s efforts to care for their health and well-being through thoughtful support via (Mothers’/Wellness Rooms, reserved parking for expectant mothers, enhanced security, counselling services and insurance coverage with special focus on women’s needs.

BounceBack, Target India’s ""returnship"" program, supports women re-entering the workforce after a career break. This program equips women with technical and managerial skills, confidence, mentorship, and buddy support within Target’s inclusive culture.
Target Udaan is another significant initiative, providing PwD with the skills needed to be industry-ready in their preferred roles. Since 2020, Udaan has trained over 70 PwD in corporate skills, including communication, Microsoft tools, team building, and personal branding. Participants receive 12 months of post-program support and job placement assistance.
Target UpCurve empowers women engineers from non-top-tier colleges to become intentional about their careers, bridging the gap between education and experience. The program has expanded to include hiring PwD as well.
Target Elevate, a conference for women in technology, offers opportunities for over 1,000 women to discover new ways to lead, learn, and network in an evolving landscape.
Furthermore, Target is re-examining policies for PwD, identifying applicable roles, and training its Talent Acquisition team on sensitivities surrounding hiring for this community.
The company is also engaging with colleges that focus on education for PwD and participating in RYSE, India’s premier LGBT+ job fair, to connect with these talent pools.
